Day 4 – Morning ritual

Every morning since working from home I have the same ritual. The time varies slightly but it is usually around 10am. I leave my house and go for a 350 metre walk to my local cafe and buy a coffee. When Miss A was learning from home she would come with me and get a babycino, milkshake or hot chocolate.

This morning ritual has many benefits:

  • I get a real coffee – although this is not my only coffee as I do have a Nespresso machine and will usually have 1 or 2 before this
  • I get out for a short walk and some fresh air – it is good for clearing my head
  • I am supporting a local business that was able to stay open during the lock down period – at work I buy a coffee every morning as well so I am redistributing my funds locally
  • I have social interaction with people other than Mr A and Miss A – the 2 ladies that work there are really lovely
  • I spent some one on one time with Miss A during the day – we chatted or I tested her spelling words or times tables
  • I put on real pants – I have a shower every morning (always do even when I’m sick) but knowing that I leave the house means I put on real pants and not just tracksuit pants because i would never leave the house in tracksuit pants

I know I am privileged enough to enjoy the luxury of buying a coffee every day even though I don’t need to but I feel the added benefits of my morning ritual are worth it. Cappuccino and baby cino
