Sewing goals and challenges seem to be a big thing in the sewing community. There is #make9 where people post the 9 things they plan to make it a year; #memadeMay; #SewMyStyle 2018 and so. The Fold Line blog has a post Sewing Challenges and Hashtags if you are interested in learning more.
So here is my take on #make9. The 9 new indie sewing patterns I have discovered in the last 2 months that I want to make. My biggest issue is deciding what I want to make first.
- Charlie caftan from Closet Case patterns – both the long and short styles look great but I would love a maxi dress with slight sleeves
- Lenox shirtdress from Cashmerette Patterns – a shirt dress designed for the curvy among us
- Harrison shirt from Cashmerette Patterns – I like button up shirts but can never find ones that fit. Hopefully this will pattern will solve this dilemma.
- Winslow culottes from Helen’s Closet – because who doesn’t love culottes.
- Blackwood cardigan from Helen’s Closet – of course I have to make a cardigan, it is in my librarian DNA
- Lander pants from True Bias – everybody is raving about these pants and there is even a #landerpantsdance going around the interwebs. Plus sewing pants no longer seems as scary.
- Hollyburn skirt from Sewaholic – a flared skirt with pockets, who doesn’t love pockets
- Arenite pants from Sew Liberated – because I have recently bought a pair of pants in a similar style and I love them
- Charlotte dress from Sew Over It – my kind of dress, faux wrap but with a collar
Well the list should actually be 10 because I have recently downloaded the free Plantain t-shirt pattern from Deer and Doe and have the pattern and fabric ready to go.
I also like the Dartmouth top, Ames jeans and Appleton dress from Cashmerette patterns. Plus other patterns from Sew Over It, Tilly and the Buttons. Not to mention all of the paper patterns I already own. I see a handmade wardrobe in my future.
