I would normally end #blogjune with a reflection post but I am not going to. Instead I am going to copy an idea from my Day 29 2016 Blog June post and write about 7 things that I am loving right now. They are in no particular order of importance, just as they pop into my head.
- Sirius Black – having never owned a cat before I have found immense joy in watching him running around like a crazy thing and jumping off things (today’s fun was sliding down the legs of the ironing board); watching him sleep, snore and stretch; patting his soft fur and hearing him purr loudly. I have been looking at his cute facial features and soft foot pads in a way I have never looked at cats before. He has definitely found a place in my heart.
- Getting back to the gym – It is not something I thought I would ever say or write as I am not a person who MUST exercise regularly but after not going to the gym for about 3 months it is nice to be back to my PT sessions and the regular routine of a gym visit (although now including hand sanitiser, temperature checks and wipes). I have had 3 PT sessions now and although sore after all 3, today’s was just a gentle I-have-used-those-muscle soreness much improved over the ouch-I-can’t-move-my-arms-or-legs soreness after the first 2 sessions.
- Working from home – I am half way through my 14th week of working from home and although I struggled a bit at the beginning with a lack of social interaction, I have now settled into a good routine and am quite enjoying it. A lack of commute on public transport, a new morning coffee ritual, zoom meetings and communicating to my team member by Yammer is now the new normal. Going back to the workplace will be a shock to the system and like others, one I don’t know that I am in a hurry to resume.
- My sewing space – having a dedicated sewing desk (even if it does become my work desk during the week), a cutting table and ample storage for my fabric and other sewing and craft related hobbies that is off the lounge room and not in a room at the back of the house is great. I still feel connected to what is happening in the lounge room while doing my thing. Having plenty of room and not having to pack things away all the time means I am more likely to sew in smaller chunks of time and do bits and pieces when I would otherwise probably be watching tv or on my phone.
- Cadbury Old Gold Cherry Ripe chocolate block – in our household we are always tasting new flavours of chocolate, lollies, ice cream, biscuits, and sometimes chips that are developed under the guise ‘For science’. Most of them are never bought again. However, the Old Gold Cherry Ripe chocolate is a definite hit and multiple repeat purchases have been made. I try to limit myself to 2 rows a night though as I could easily polish off more.
- Miss A and the changes in her behaviour, particularly at school since the beginning of the year. She is the youngest in her class, so not quite up to the same level of maturity as some kids that are already 8 (she is only turning 8 this weekend) coupled with ADHD, her ability to regulate her behaviour has been difficult and mini meltdowns were quite common. But since her formal diagnosis and the starting of medication, she has really been trying hard to self-regulate her behaviour and it has been paying off. I know we still have a long road ahead of us but I am so proud of her and what she has achieved so far.
- Hello Fresh – we have been getting Hello Fresh for 3 meals a week for a while now. I really like the variety of the meals, and the fact we get food that we would not necessarily make for ourselves. The majority of the meals we all love and there has only been one or two we would not get again. I must admit I also love the fact that Mr A does 99.9% of the cooking and Hello Fresh adds much more variety to his repertoire.
And just like my 2016 post, a couple of things I am not loving right now.
- The constant loud music being played my one neighbour.
- Having a daughter (and to some extent a husband) who leaves things all around the house. Not to mention that she has a bedroom that is a disgrace and that you can hardly see the carpet.
And that is a wrap for #blogjune 2020. 30 posts for 30 days. As always, I hope this will spur me to blog more regularly but don’t hold your breath. It hasn’t worked in the past so why should this year be any different.
