I have just finished watching the final of Series 6 of The Great British Sewing Bee less than 24 hours after it aired in the UK. If I waited any longer to watch it would have almost certainly resulted in seeing spoilers. As it is I made a conscious decision to avoid my sewing related Instagram account until I watched it, but I couldn’t guarantee that I could escape unscathed on Facebook or Twitter.
This series of the sewing bee has 2 firsts for me.
The first time I have purposefully sought out to watch something obtained by not entirely legal means. Not that I had any part in putting it on the net for others to see, but I won’t name how or where I was able to watch it. I just have never felt entirely comfortable with pirated media.
Secondly, it is the only time I have consciously blocked certain social media to avoid spoilers. I haven’t even done this with Eurovision before.
I just love the genuineness of this show and its contestants, the judges (who doesn’t love Patrick Grant) and the presenters (formerly Claudia Winkleman now Joe Lycett). It has taught me that even if you have been sewing for years, you still can make mistakes and learn from them.
I am sad that series 6 is over, but I still have the repeats of the previous series on Foxtel to keep me going.
