Every few years or so I pick up a crochet hook again and start crocheting. This time I was inspired by @stickstichcut (Lisa) on Instagram and her recent posts of her crocheted hexagons.
Last night I pulled out a hook and yarn, a crochet book and started crocheting away. I also watched a couple of tutorials on YouTube from Bella Coco (one of only of two people I follow on YouTube). I now have a green rectangle and a green granny square to go with all of my other ‘test pieces’
I have a lot of unfinished pieces in various shapes, sizes and colours I have amassed over the years. Squares, rectangles, not quite rectangles, granny squares, flowers etc. Instead of pulling them all out, all worse throwing them out, I have decided that I am going to one day crochet them altogether in a mad crazy blanket. I am not the best crocheter. My tension is often wrong, or stitches are slightly wrong but I think crocheting all of them together in a blanket will be something I can give to Abi and then she can pass onto to future generations. I have a crochet blanket from when I was a child made by my paternal great grandmother, and some I think that were made by my maternal great grandmother. I also treasure a blanket my maternal grandmother made for me for my 18th birthday.
