Over the weekend I attended not only my first social gathering outside of the home since the COVID-19 lockdown, but 3 social gatherings.
The first was dinner on Friday night at the RSL at the end of our street for my brother-in-laws 40th birthday. We didn’t have to go far, but it still felt weird leaving the house at night. Something I hadn’t done for 3 months.
The second, was a 60th birthday party on Saturday night for a friend of Mr A’s – again at the RSL at the end of our street. I was getting used to going out by then and I even did a full face of makeup for the occasion, the first time in 3 months.
The third occasion was a picnic catch up on Sunday afternoon at Mt Cootha with a group of friends. It was nice to catch up on all the latest news with friends I hadn’t seen for a while, lamenting over overseas travel we were missing out, while the kids played soccer and frisbee. Despite being overcast and showers earlier in the day, the rain held off and it was nice to get out in the fresh air for a change.
This coming weekend we are venturing further afield to Stanthorpe to stay with friends. I am sure it will feel weird going away but I am really looking for ward to it.
